Ingersoll Rand's History of Quality Forklifts
Ingersoll Rand was originally formed as the Ingersoll Rock Drill Company in 1871, in New Rock. Over the years, it continued to reform and grow, to become the respected multinational it is today. Ingersoll Rand moved into the forklift space when it acquired part of Volvo’s business in 2007, which included rough terrain forklifts and telehandlers for the American market.
Ingersoll Rand’s history with forklifts is primarily tied to its acquisition of Volvo’s Material Handling Equipment division in 2007, which included North American telehandlers and rough terrain forklifts. Later, this material handling business was sold, with Skyjack acquiring selected telescopic handler assets in 2008. Ingersoll Rand’s focus shifted to broader industrial technologies, including air, fluid, energy, and medical systems. Today, with 150 years of industrial excellence, Ingersoll Rand is a true global leader.
